Helping people recover from Guillain-Barré Syndrome through personalised rehabilitation focused on movement and function.
Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS)
Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) is a rare neurological condition in which the immune system attacks the peripheral nerves. It often develops following a viral or bacterial infection.
The condition usually begins with tingling or weakness in the feet and legs and can progress upwards to affect the arms and upper body. In more severe cases, temporary paralysis may occur.
Common symptoms may include:
- Progressive muscle weakness.
- Difficulty walking.
- Changes in sensation such as tingling or numbness.
- Reduced balance and coordination .
- Fatigue.
- Reduced endurance.
- Difficulty with everyday activities.
Most people with Guillain-Barré Syndrome gradually recover, although the recovery process can take months or longer.
Rehabilitation is often an important part of regaining strength and mobility.
Our rehabilitation programmes are tailored to support gradual recovery and return to independence.
