Peripheral Neuropathy
Helping people manage peripheral neuropathy through personalised rehabilitation focused on movement and daily function.
Peripheral Neuropathy
Peripheral neuropathy occurs when the peripheral nerves, which carry signals between the brain, spinal cord, and the rest of the body, become damaged.
It can be caused by a range of conditions including diabetes, autoimmune disorders, infections, injuries, or certain medications.
Common symptoms may include:
- Numbness or reduced sensation in the hands or feet.
- Tingling or burning sensations.
- Muscle weakness.
- Difficulty with balance or walking.
- Reduced coordination.
- Pain in the affected areas.
Symptoms often begin in the feet and may gradually progress upwards.
Our aim is to help individuals improve mobility, reduce fall risk, and maintain independence.
How we can help
At Nicole Lavin Neuro Rehab, we provide rehabilitation programmes aimed at improving mobility, strength, and balance for individuals living with peripheral neuropathy.
Rehabilitation may include:
- Assessment of strength, sensation, balance, and walking ability.
- Strength and conditioning exercises.
- Balance training to reduce fall risk.
- Gait training using LiteGait body-weight support systems.
- Walking rehabilitation using the AlterG anti-gravity treadmill.
- Hydrotherapy to support low-impact strengthening and mobility.
- Functional training for everyday activities.
- Education on foot care, safety, and fall prevention.
Our aim is to help individuals improve mobility, reduce fall risk, and maintain independence.
