Bio
Emma is a highly experienced Paediatric Physiotherapist who is passionate about supporting children and young people to achieve their full potential. With over a decade of specialist paediatric experience, she is dedicated to delivering personalised, family-centred care that empowers children to develop their skills, independence, and confidence through meaningful and achievable goals.
Emma graduated from the University of Manchester with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy in 2004 and began her career within the NHS, working across a variety of junior and senior rotational posts. During these early years, she gained valuable experience in several clinical specialties, including paediatrics, where she discovered a passion for working with children and their families. This passion led her to specialise in Paediatric Physiotherapy, a field in which she has continued to develop her expertise throughout her career.
For the past ten years, Emma has worked exclusively within paediatric services in the NHS, supporting children and young people with a wide range of developmental, neurological, genetic, and musculoskeletal conditions. Her extensive experience has enabled her to develop a broad and adaptable clinical skill set, allowing her to provide specialist assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation tailored to each child’s individual needs.
Emma has worked across a variety of settings including homes, clinics, nurseries, mainstream schools, and specialist educational environments. This diverse experience has given her a comprehensive understanding of the challenges children and families may face in different aspects of daily life and enables her to provide practical, goal-focused interventions that support participation at home, in school, and within the wider community.
Emma is passionate about working collaboratively with children, parents, carers, and other professionals to create meaningful rehabilitation programmes that are both engaging and effective. She believes therapy should be motivating, enjoyable, and centred around the goals that matter most to each child and family. Her warm and approachable manner helps build strong therapeutic relationships, creating a positive environment in which children can thrive.
Emma brings a wealth of specialist paediatric knowledge and experience to the team. She is committed to delivering the highest standard of care and continually developing her practice to ensure the best possible outcomes for the children and families she supports. She is a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) and the Medico-Legal Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (MLACP) and has completed the post graduate aquatic therapy qualifications to provide a paediatric hydrotherapy service at Nicole Lavin Neurorehab ltd.
Outside of work, Emma enjoys spending time with her family, particularly her two boys, and exploring the beautiful countryside around Calderdale with her dogs, Poppy and Betsy.
